Who Developed Entity Locker?
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), through the National eGovernance Division (NeGD), developed the Entity Locker, a cloud-based platform designed to simplify business document management.
What Is Entity Locker?
Entity Locker is a digital solution that enhances the storage, sharing, and verification of documents for various entities, including MSMEs, start-ups, trusts, and large corporations. The platform integrates with government databases, offering secure cloud storage, real-time document access, and authentication.
When Was It Announced?
The Entity Locker was introduced as part of India’s Union Budget 2024-25 and aligns with the ongoing Digital India Programme. It is being implemented in phases with wider integrations planned in the near future.
Where Does It Operate?
This platform functions within India and integrates with key government systems such as the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), and Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), among others.
Why Was Entity Locker Created?
The Entity Locker was created to address the growing need for secure, efficient, and accessible document management systems that support India’s digital transformation. How Does Entity Locker Work?
Offering 10 GB of encrypted cloud storage, real-time access to documents, and Aadhaar-authenticated role-based access management, the platform provides secure document sharing and legally valid digital signatures for authentication. It integrates seamlessly with government systems for smoother compliance processes.
